Operational
Serving as a volunteer firefighter or emergency medical technician (EMT) under the Fairfax County system is a demanding, but rewarding experience. Anyone considering this avenue needs to seriously consider the impact it will have on his or her life. This level of commitment can be found in no other volunteer service and is often underestimated. If you are considering this rewarding challenge, you should expect to devote a considerable amount of your personal time for the next three years to make it worthwhile.
