Auxiliary
The Ladies Auxiliary to the Dunn Loring Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department is an integral part to the successfulness of this organization. Accepting both men and women as members, the Auxiliary’s mission is twofold: to provide frontline canteen service to the emergency service personnel of Fairfax County, and to support the department in fund raising, community outreach and administrative support.
Canteen 413 is one of five canteens that provide support to Fairfax County in an on-call capacity. When an incident becomes protracted and a need for hot and cold food and beverages presents itself, these mobile kitchens can respond on short notice. The Auxiliary stocks the unit with the necessary supplies, staffs the unit when called to duty, and raises the funds necessary to provide the service.
Additionally, the Auxiliary raises funds to support the department through Bingo, bake sales, craft sales, merchandise sales, and operating the kitchen during both Bingo shifts.
